Library Media
Mission
The mission of the Central Elementary School Library Media Center is to support 21st century learning, by providing adequate resources that will enhance the educational needs and interest of students and staff. We will provide the best educational experience by maintaining a nurturing, safe, and welcoming environment for all ethnic, cultural, and educational differences. We want all learners to become lifelong readers and learners who appreciate and celebrate literature, themselves, and others.
Goals
-
To instill in students a desire to be life-long readers and to have the ability to search for answers independently in the Media Center.
-
To acquire and maintain a balanced collection of media center resources, which represent a wide range of subjects, levels of difficulty and formats.
-
To provide learning experiences which encourage students to become proficient users of information and technology.
-
To support the Lowndes County Public School System's curriculum and the teachers' classroom programs by providing necessary materials and appropriate guidance and instruction to students.
Circulation Guidelines
Enrolled students may check out books for a period of two weeks. Books may be renewed once. Reference books, periodicals, and non-book materials will not be checked out to students. Teachers may check out materials and request an extension if necessary. Materials may be reserved by teachers with a written request.
Students with overdue books will not be allowed to check out additional books until the overdue book is either returned or brought into the library to be renewed. Lost books must be reported to the Media Specialist immediately. If the book cannot be found, the student must pay for the book. Students will also be responsible for payment of damaged materials.
